Good run goes flat
Posted on 6.28.2009 @ 10:03pm | Comments: (0)
Ross and the #0 team finally got their sputtering issues straightened out, as they returned to the 411 Motor Speedway in Seymour, TN. However, while running 4th, contact between the #16-Brad Lowe and #63-Josh Collins resulted in the #63 making contact with the #0, ripping the valve stem out of the rear tire, in turn flattening the stellar run Ross was having. The White Racing team raced to quickly change tires, however, with a tire change came setup change with tire size differences. Ross would restart shotgun on the field to salvage a 7th place finish!

Next Saturday night, July 4th, the White Racing team will be in action at the 411 Motor Speedway. If you don't have any plans for the 4th, head over to the 411 Motor Speedway for some Saturday night fireworks, hopefully off the track only!

Wallbanger of a night for Ross White
Posted on 6.22.2009 @ 7:51am | Comments: (0)
The night started off on a sour note for the #0 team on Saturday night, and it didn't get much better throughout the night. After making several changes through the week to try to fix the ignition trouble, Ross would have a decent hotlap session, and would prepare to Qualify for the first of an 8-race Mini-Series at The Mountain Raceway for the Sportsman Late Models. While sitting in staging to run Qualifying, Ross' brand-new ignition switch broke and the car would fluctuate from running and shutting off. Ross would pull onto the track for his qualifying, and instantly, it was clear something was wrong as Ross would sputter around the 4/10th of a mile track and pull into the pits. The team asked for a lap if they could fix it, and crew chief Ronnie White 'hot-wired' the ignition switch and Ross would go out to qualify. Due to only getting 1 lap, Ross couldn't lay down a good qualifying lap, so the team started towards the back.

Feature time rolled around and Ross and the rest of the 22 car field would speed down into turn 1, where the #49 of James Kelso and #0-Ross White would both run the same line going into 1, however, both cars would slam the outside wall in Turn 1. Kelso and White drove away from the incident, however, Ross pulled in the pits, where it was determined the right-front lower control arm was bent. There were several spins and a couple of multi-car incidents during the feature, which saw it's laps cut short due to the time limit, and 2 attempts were made for a green-white-checkers until everybody finally tip-toed through turn 1 for 2 consecutive laps.

Ross battles ignition trouble, salvages Top 10!
Posted on 6.15.2009 @ 10:09am | Comments: (0)
The White Racing team loaded up Saturday and headed to The Mountain Raceway in Maryville, TN for a little "test session" for the 8-race mini-series for the Sportsman Late Models (details below). Ross and the team were on the track ready for hotlaps win a stray thunderstorm rolled through and dumped a little bit of rain on the track. After about an hour rain delay, the track officials got everything going again and Ross was unfortunately not impressive in hotlaps. In qualifying, Ross laid down a 17.90 which was only good enough for 11th. After changing the coil and carburetor, the team was optimistic for the feature. A crew member was sent to turn 2 to listen for the stumbling ignition, and despite the ignition trouble, Ross moved from 11th to a 7th place finish in the feature.

"If we had a caution, I think we could've gotten another spot or two" driver Ross White said following the race. "Every time I would pick up the throttle, it would just stumble and hesitate until part of the way down the straightaway before it would clear up. We'll change some stuff on this thing this week and see how it sounds, but it's really hard to tell at the garage, it's one of those things that has to be checked on the track."

The Mini-Series is being dubbed the "Hot Summer Nights Tire Fights", where competitors are allowed either a Hoosier racing tire or an American Racer tire. The tire of choice for the White Racing team is the American Racer. Each race pays $1,000 to win leading up to the 8th and final round which will consist of triple points and 54 laps in 3 segments. The White Racing team will debug the car this week and make a decision on the 8-race series this week.
